My Genius Hour Project

Welcome to my Genius Hour Project

Feel free to look through these 5 slides in order to understand my goal with this project, my motivation and my proposed timeline.

A quick note on Google Slides:
Powerpoint presentations are a fantastic tool to bring into the classroom. Students are super engaged when they are able to create, personalize and share material with the class. An application like Google Slides is perfect for that!

My Genius Hour Movie Trailer
To intrigue you even more about my Genius Hour project please watch this 50 second movie trailer.

I put together this trailer using the application Biteable. I had so much fun with this app as I was easily able to customize and create a video. There were so many scenes to choose from and so much personalization available. I would definitely use this application in the classroom. First, as a teacher, to present information to my students. Putting subject content in a video format would allow for more engagement in my students. Furthermore, I would offer this tool to my students to use as a way to present their final projects or assignments. What a fantastic online tool! I am so glad I found out about Biteable.

  1. Hi Miss Mulhall,
I loved your trailer for your genius hour project on the Boston Marathon, it felt very personal! It conveyed your topic very well with a clear focus on what you are aiming to achieve! It looked professionally done, and could be displayed on TV as a commercial. Your design elements were great with lots of pictures demonstrating your text. I especially liked the one with all the individuals smiling for "yes it is." I will for sure be exploring this application of Biteable to use in my teaching.
    Thanks!

  2. Hey Ms. Mulhall,
I really enjoyed your trailer for your Boston Marathon Genius Hour project! I found it super engaging, and the different elements and shots you picked for your trailer made it connect together very well. I know you've said its difficult to train for, and I really get that 'challenging' feel from watching your video! Great job!!

  4. Hello Ms. Mulhall,

I really enjoyed reviewing and evaluating your Genius Hour Digital Portfolio, excellent job!

When looking at the Genius Hour Digital Portfolio Rubric, it is evident that your genius hour reflection posts (introduction and four progress posts) were thoroughly completed. These posts documented your progress seamlessly, and included media (images and videos) as well as hyperlinks. I especially liked how you included personal videos, very creative! I noticed that your reflections did not include citations. 90%

Your portfolio included all four genius hour artifacts: introduction, proposal, movie trailer and ted-style talk. All of these artifacts were thoughtfully accompanied by text reflections and context setting statements. I liked how you provided detailed information about the websites used to create some of the artifacts, well done! 95%

As far as the layout and text, your blog was very easy to read and navigate. You used consistent text formatting, sub-headings and paragraphs as well as white space. I noticed that your embedded media fit properly within blog columns and did not overlap. I really like the theme you chose! 100%

The language you used for writing was engaging and purposeful whilst being exceptionally clear and to the point. I thought your blog was very professionally written and reflective in nature. 100%

Last, you had impeccable spelling and grammar - I did not find any errors! 100%

    Total = 96%
